It’s no secret that I LOVE the beaches here in the PNW. The Oregon Coast is a stunning stretch of coastline – out of this world! Known for its rugged beauty and picturesque landscapes, it offers a unique and breathtaking setting for weddings. With its dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and crashing waves – it’s a moody DREAM! The coast is also dotted with charming towns, each with its own distinct character and attractions. From the iconic Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach to the scenic Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Brookings, and Neskowin! There are countless picturesque spots along the Oregon Coast that make for unforgettable wedding memories. Whether you want a small intimate ceremony, adventure elopement, or a larger wedding, the Oregon Coast offers a variety of stunning beach locations to choose from.

Deciding on the number of guests is an important factor in planning your beach wedding. If you have a guest count of fewer than 15 people, it’s easier to find an Airbnb for accommodation and gatherings. For larger groups, it becomes more challenging, and you may need to consider booking a venue such as a restaurant or embracing the beach for the entire day.
Planning your timeline and activities is essential to ensure a seamless flow on your wedding day. Don’t worry—I’m here to assist you in creating a customized timeline. As an added bonus, all my couples receive a comprehensive 100-page digital planning guide to help you stay organized and stress-free.
Perhaps you’re considering adding some extra touches to your wedding, such as florals, a private chef, or hair and makeup artists. After you book me as your photographer, I’ll provide you with recommendations for trusted vendors in the area.
Here are a few of my personal favorites:
You will need an officiant for the wedding. This can be someone in your family or friends as long as they get ordained, or you can hire one. Additionally, you’ll need two witnesses who are over 18 years old. Don’t forget to obtain a marriage license as well. There is usually a 3-day waiting period for marriage licenses, but if you are out of state and request it, they may waive that waiting period for a fee of $5. This way, you don’t have to fly in three days before the wedding. You can have the marriage license mailed to you!
If you’re hoping for the best weather on the Oregon Coast, consider planning your wedding between July and September. These months typically offer the most favorable conditions for your special day.
Keep in mind that it might rain, so it’s a good idea to bring hand warmers and cute clear umbrellas as a backup plan. Additionally, have an indoor backup plan in case the weather is not ideal. You can still have your ceremony outside, but then have a cozy place indoors to celebrate, eat dinner, dance, etc. An Airbnb often works well for this purpose!

It is possible that you will need a permit for your wedding, but oftentimes, you will not need one! If you have a certain beach location in Oregon in mind either research the requirements or you can ask me!
Every beach along the Oregon Coast is officially public land, so you don’t need a permit as long as you aren’t setting up any sort of installation, table setup, arch, chairs, decor, etc. Most couples prefer minimal set-up anyway, as they just want to enjoy the beautiful Oregon Coast views.
Some State Parks may require a special use permit. Each park has its own rules. If you have fewer than 75 people, most permits are free.
In National Forests, ceremonies with fewer than 75 people usually do not require a permit, but it is still recommended to check and obtain a permit if necessary. Your photographer will be able to help you with the permit process.
Now that you have this step-by-step guide, it’s time to start planning your dream Oregon beach wedding! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to book your photography services.
