experience-centered photography for couples that want a beautifully documented + meaningful wedding day
Molly’s Mount Hood Senior Photos captured everything I love about this location. There’s something about Mount Hood that just pulls me in every time I shoot there. The wildflower meadows, the way the sun sets behind the peaks, the endless greens and golden hues, it’s simply…magical. Breathtaking.
So when Molly and I started planning her senior session and she said she wanted something adventurous and scenic, I knew exactly where we were headed.
This session captured everything I love about photographing seniors. It wasn’t your typical light-and-airy shoot — it was raw, windswept, and beautifully untamed. Moody and cinematic, with just enough stillness to let the emotion breathe.
From the sun flaring through pine trees to her windswept hair caught mid-stride on a patchy-green trail, Molly’s photoshoot felt like it belonged on the front of an album cover.
Mount Hood is one of my absolute favorite spots to photograph seniors. It’s a little drive outside of the city, but so worth it. For Molly’s session, we caught it at just the right time — late summer, when the wildflowers were still in bloom and the light was golden.
I love that you can get so much variety in one spot: open meadows, quiet pine forests, winding trails, mountain views, and when we pair it with the right styling and light, it just sings on camera. For seniors who love the outdoors or want something a little more unique and earthy, this location never disappoints.
Something that made Molly’s gallery especially dreamy was the mix of film-inspired edits. I’ve been incorporating more film textures into my editing process: subtle grain, soft light, and a kind of timeless coloring that gives everything a nostalgic glow.
There’s a special kind of magic that film-style edits bring to senior sessions. With Molly, it helped capture the ease of her personality, the softness of her movements, and the warmth of the landscape around her. It just felt like we were telling her story in the most natural, heartfelt way.
Molly absolutely nailed her outfit choices. She brought a couple of flowy dresses and skirts in muted, natural tones that played perfectly with the soft greens and florals of the mountain. Earthy neutrals and fabrics like linen or cotton are always a good idea when we’re out in wildflower fields — they don’t compete with the background, but they move beautifully with the wind and light. She also wore simple yet stapled jewelry that paired beautifully with her outfit choices, making the photoshoot more her.
Pro Tip: Embrace the Elements
Mount Hood can be windy, dusty, or even unexpectedly sunny — and that’s part of its magic. Don’t fight the weather or lighting conditions; instead, choose outfits and hairstyles that can move with the wind and light. Flowy dresses, minimal accessories, and low-maintenance hairstyles (think waves or braids) work best in this environment.
We started in an open field where the wildflowers were still going strong, everything looked like a movie. Molly walked, twirled, laughed, and soaked in the scenery like it was her own backyard.
From there, we moved into the forest for a moodier feel. The tall trees filtered the sun and gave us this gorgeous, even light. I loved how quiet it felt in there — the stillness of the woods paired with Molly’s calm energy made those shots feel so grounded and intentional.
Toward the end of the session, we headed back up to an overlook where you could see Mount Hood in the distance. The wind picked up a bit, her dress caught the breeze, and everything just clicked. Those final moments as the sun dipped low behind the mountain were some of my favorites from the whole shoot.
We didn’t chase golden light — we leaned into the stark sun. We didn’t wait for calm skies — we embraced the wind, the tension, the contrast. And the result? A gallery that feels bold, raw, and entirely her.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you already know how much I adore this location. But if you’re just starting to dream up your own senior session, here’s why Mount Hood might be the perfect fit for you too:
Many of the best photo spots involve light hiking across uneven trails, rocky outcrops, or dirt paths. Bring hiking boots or sneakers for walking between locations, and we’ll swap in your styled shoes once we’re at the spot. Trust me, your ankles and gallery will thank you.
I always recommend reaching out early if Mount Hood is on your wishlist. The wildflowers usually peak in late July through early August, and my summer weekends fill up months in advance.
Fall sessions out here are also gorgeous. Think of golden light, a little crispness in the air, and quieter trails. But again, early booking is key! That gives us more flexibility for picking the right weather window and timing your session around blooms or colors.
If you’re looking ahead to next summer or fall, I’d love to chat and help you plan something beautiful. You can officially book now and reserve your spot. Or, if you’re aiming for next fall, you’ll get first access to that waitlist too.

If Molly’s gallery sparked something in you that pulls toward wide-open landscapes, dramatic light, gorgeous mountain backdrop, and the kind of photos that feel like they belong on a vinyl album cover — let’s start planning your own.
Senior photos should be more than posed smiles and pretty backdrops. They should feel intentional — a reflection of who you are in this exact moment. Whether that’s bold and windswept, quiet and grounded, or somewhere in between, your session should carry your energy from the very first frame.
Mount Hood is one of my favorite places to shoot, not just because of its wild beauty, but because it always gives us something real. Wind. Dust. Light. Texture. Grass. Trees. Space to breathe. Space to move. It’s not about chasing perfection — it’s about letting the environment shape the story we tell.
If you’re daydreaming about wildflower fields, open trails, and cinematic mountain views, I’d love to help you bring that vision to life. The earlier you book, the more flexibility we have to craft a session that’s fully yours — especially for summer wildflowers or those moody fall evenings.
Book your senior session now and let’s create something honest, layered, and powerful: a visual story you’ll feel every time you look back on your senior year.
Let’s head for the mountains and capture your story in a way that’s as bold and beautiful as this season of your life.
