experience-centered photography for couples that want a beautifully documented + meaningful wedding day
If you’re dreaming of senior pictures that feel adventurous, unique, and completely you, then let’s talk about one of my absolute favorite locations — Mount Hood. With wildflower meadows, forest trails, and those jaw-dropping mountain views, it’s the kind of place that brings a little magic to every picture.Whether you’re hoping for something outdoorsy and laid-back or whimsical and romantic, Mount Hood senior pictures offer endless possibilities.
I’ve photographed some of my favorite senior sessions up on the mountain, and I’m so excited to share why it might be the perfect spot for your own senior photos. Keep reading for inspo from real senior sessions, tips for booking the right time, and ideas on how to make your shoot totally unique!
Okay, let’s just get one thing out of the way — the view is insane. That iconic Mount Hood backdrop is the kind of thing you only see on postcards or screensavers… until you’re standing there, seeing it with your own eyes and feeling like you’re in the middle of a real-life adventure.
But it’s not just about the mountains — this spot is incredibly versatile. You can get cozy forest vibes, sunny wildflower fields, AND dramatic mountain views all in one session. If you’re someone who loves the outdoors or just wants something that feels a little more epic than your everyday location, Mount Hood brings it.
Here are a few of my favorite things about shooting Mount Hood senior pictures:
Eva’s session is one I still think about — it was such a vibe! She showed up in overalls (yes please!) and brought along her camera, which was such a fun way to showcase her love for photography. I always encourage seniors to incorporate something personal into their shoot — whether it’s a prop, outfit, or even just a specific location that means something to you. It makes your photos feel more authentic, and trust me, you’ll love looking back on those details later.
Her shoot had this effortlessly outdoorsy feel, with soft mountain light, breezy meadows, and that classic Mount Hood charm. One of my favorite moments? Capturing her candid laughter with the forest in the background, camera in hand — it felt like she was in her element, and it totally showed.
Pro tip from Eva’s Session:
Bring along a prop or outfit that represents something you love. Whether it’s your camera, your favorite book, or a cozy hat that makes you feel confident — adding a personal touch makes your session feel like you.
If you’ve ever thought about bringing a little country flair to your shoot, Ellie’s session is all the inspo you need. She showed up in a flowy white dress, cowgirl boots, and the biggest smile. Her energy was so fun and free-spirited, and her shoot had this mix of playful and elegant that felt so true to her style.
One of the highlights? That dirt road moment. We snapped some shots of her in denim overalls, standing barefoot on the trail with the mountain in the background. It felt totally natural and so uniquely her. The whole vibe was warm, relaxed, and confident — everything a senior session should be!
Don’t be afraid to mix up your outfits. Bring a couple different looks — one dressy, one casual, or one playful and one polished, and we’ll capture the full range of your personality.
Now that you’re probably dreaming of your own session in the wildflowers, let’s talk timing. Because Mount Hood is such a popular (and seasonal!) location, it’s super important to plan ahead.
Plan for late spring to early summer. That’s when the blooms typically peak. But wildflower season can shift a little year to year depending on weather, so I always recommend reaching out early so we can pencil in your session and keep an eye on those bloom dates!
Since we’re working with nature, weather and bloom times can affect when we shoot. I always do my best to find that perfect window when everything aligns — and having some flexibility on your end helps a ton. We might shift by a few days to dodge rain or catch the wildflowers at their best. Trust me, it’s worth it!
My Mount Hood senior sessions fill up quickly, especially for spring and early summer. If this location is calling your name, send an inquiry early so we can plan your dream shoot!
The magic of Mount Hood is that it gives you a stunning backdrop no matter what, but what really makes your photos special is you. Your style, your energy, your story.
