experience-centered photography for couples that want a beautifully documented + meaningful wedding day

Y’all, I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one. Charlotte and Reid got married at CedarVale Events in Hubbard, Oregon, and the whole day happened under towering evergreens with string lights glowing in the branches. I walked away from this wedding wanting to move into the woods.
If you’ve been searching for a forest wedding venue in Oregon, grab your coffee and keep scrolling. I’m walking through the day, plus a few ideas you can borrow for your own.
Charlotte wore a sleeveless white gown with a square neckline and a long veil that looked so pretty against all that greenery. Reid wore a dark brown suit with a cream tie, a little boutonniere, and a bolo tie that gave the whole look some personality. Everything about their day felt true to them as a couple, from the ceremony in the trees to the photo booth to a send-off with a cloth “Just Married” banner on the back of a pickup truck.

CedarVale Events sits in Hubbard, a pretty easy drive from both Portland and Salem. The property is surrounded by tall cedars and firs, so you get that deep-forest feeling without hauling your guests to a remote trailhead. Hydrangeas fill the edges of the lawn (so many white blooms, y’all), and the trees do most of the decorating for you.
For couples who want a woodland wedding with a real sense of place, CedarVale Events is a beautiful option to put on your list.
Charlotte and Reid said their vows in a clearing of enormous tree trunks with string lights overhead. Guests sat on bentwood chairs, and loose pink and peach florals lined the forest floor along the aisle. No arch and no backdrop needed. The trees were the backdrop, and the absolute stars of the show. At least until Charlotte came down the aisle.
There were tears, of course. Charlotte wiped her eyes while Reid read from a folded page, and the kiss that followed had their guests cheering and tossing petals. If you’re planning a ceremony in the woods, choose a spot where the light filters through the branches. It gives a stunning ethereal look that makes everyone look like they’re glowing.

The portraits are some of my favorites from the whole gallery. We slipped over to the hydrangea bushes, and Charlotte’s veil turned into the star of the show. A few of my favorite frames were the two of them wrapped up under the veil, nose to nose, in both color and black and white. Reid also kissed Charlotte’s hand in front of the white blooms, and it was so sweetly perfect.
Pro tip for your own forest wedding: bring the veil. Greenery makes white fabric pop, and a little breeze under the trees gives you movement for free.
Charlotte’s bridesmaids wore olive and mustard green dresses in different styles, so everyone looked cohesive without looking identical. Their bouquets were full of pink and white blooms with trailing green accents, and the colors looked unreal against the tree trunks.
If you love the idea of a bridal party in earthy tones, let your people choose their own silhouettes inside one color family. They’ll feel comfortable, and you’ll get a gallery that looks like a forest in full bloom.
I love a good photo booth moment, and this one delivered. Charlotte and Reid ducked into a white canopied booth in retro sunglasses, came out holding their photo strips, and laughed through every frame. Earlier in the day, one of the couple’s littlest guests carried a basket down the aisle, and another tiny guest wandered around with a white parasol. Each of these are definitely in the running to be considered the cutest details of the whole wedding.
Little touches like these give your guests something to do and give you photos that feel like a party.
The reception tables stretched out in the grass beside the trees, with bentwood chairs, linen runners, and loose, wildly beautiful arrangements running down the center. Charlotte and Reid cut a tall, flower-topped cake at the head table, then danced under the lights as the sky went dark. Later, guests lined up with white ribbon wands for the send-off, and the couple left in a pickup with the “Just Married” banner stretched across the back.
If you want a reception that feels like a backyard dinner party in the woods, take notes from Charlotte and Reid. String lights, long tables, and loose florals are exactly what you need.

If Charlotte and Reid’s CedarVale Events wedding has you picturing your own day among the trees, I would love to hear about it. Head to my inquiry page and tell me about your venue, your vibe, and the people you’re gathering to be part of your day. I photograph weddings across Oregon, and a forest wedding venue in Oregon is one of my absolute favorite places to shoot.
