This intimate mountain wedding in Idyllwild, California was SO GOOD y’all!! I’ve had the opportunity to photograph Lynette and Isaac over the last few years, and I was SO EXCITED when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. They chose to ditch the big traditional wedding idea and go for the most intentional day spent with 25 of their closest friends and family.
It was so beautiful to see the collaboration of everyone there helping make the couple’s wedding day happen. Even the amazing Mexican food dinner was homemade – truly a team effort! This is something I genuinely LOVE about an intimate wedding. It’s less of a big production, and more time and energy is spent investing in the relationships and the real moments. It’s always such an honor to be asked to join intimate weddings and elopement days like this. I feel like I’m being given special access into the intimate lives of the couples and their families. It never gets old.
Lynette and Isaac picked a venue that fit the day SO WELL: a rustic airbnb in the San Jacinto mountains of Southern California. This allowed them the freedom and intimacy of really spending time with everyone there, rather than running around a huge venue trying to stick to a traditional timelines. If you’re looking for creative ways to have an intimate wedding that aren’t at a traditional “wedding venue”, look into Airbnb/VRBO! Even some little bed and breakfasts will rent out their space for a wedding!
If you’re planning a DIY wedding this can be a great option because you are often given access to a kitchen, laundry room, and a bed to take a nap if you want haha! Always check with the hosts first, as some do not allow events or have specific requirements before booking a wedding. And be sure to give your guests proper directions and info on where to park!
TIP: Make it a wedding weekend. Invite people up to stay the night before and the night after the wedding! This makes it less stressful for those that are driving, or if there’s a bar involved. Even if you have one central location and then your guests book their own accommodations nearby. This can be a great alternative if you have more than the maximum amount of people for your main accommodation!
